Creating and Getting Facebook App ID
- Navigate to Facebook Developers section and login to your Facebook account, if you are not logged in already. This should not be your business account.
- If you are here (at Facebook Developer section) first time, you will require to “Register as a Developer” (If you have already done this, skip this step and move to step 3). Click “Register as a Developer” link.
Accept the privacy policy
You may be asked other details as in following picture
Next, you will be shown a message
After clicking Done, you will be redirected to the Apps page.
- Click Apps and then click “Add a new app” link.
- Select Website
- Specify the name of your app (You can enter whatever name you like, but it’s recommended to enter your website or company name in this field) and click “Create New Facebook App ID” button
- Choose Utilities in Category and click Confirm button
- Open your website homepage (at which you have installed the plugin) in browser, click the address bar so that website url gets highlighted, copy this url and paste it in Site URLoption (scroll down the page to see this option). Please make sure that this url includes http:// or https:// (for example: http://mywebsite.com or http://www.mywebsite.com) and click Next button. Leave “Mobile Site URL” option empty.
- Click Finished in the top menu and then click “Skip to Developer Dashboard” link
- Navigate to Settings page from the left pan
- Specify your contact email in “Contact Email” option and Save Changes
- Navigate to Dashboard page from the left pan
- Click the [?] after “This app is in development mode”
- Click No in front of “Do you want to make this app and all its live features available to the general public?” and slide it to Yes
- Click Confirm in the Take App live popup
- Navigate to Dashboard (see step 11 above), copy App ID and paste it in the Facebook App ID option of your plugin. Do not forget to Save Changes after configuring all the options on plugin settings page.
